There’s no denying it, Paris is beautiful! Especially old Paris, with its narrow streets and charming facades… and of course, as good tourists, we couldn’t miss out on some iconic buildings!
Discovering Paris on the Seine
The day begins with a Bateau-Mouche cruise! A must-do, especially if you don’t have many days to spend in the city but want to see the main tourist spots. The boat ride allows you to see the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, the Louvre… all within an hour, comfortably seated in the cool.
We continued with the Eiffel Tower and its beautiful view from the Place du Trocadéro. We also took the opportunity to visit the Musée de l’Homme. It’s a very beautiful museum that the children loved, although, to be honest, it’s geared more towards older visitors. It can sometimes be a bit complicated to understand and explain to the little ones, as it deals with humanity and its evolution.
We also visited the Cité des Sciences, a highly recommended must-see. However, we were a bit disappointed as the entrance fee for the four of us was very expensive, and many of the exhibits, if not half, were additional costs! Nevertheless, the children had a blast in the Cité des Enfants.
Discovering Paris on foot
Our visit continued in Montmartre, where we couldn’t resist getting portraits done of the little ones! We also visited the Basilica of Sacré-Cœur, which is free if you survive the climb up the steps! It’s delightful to stroll through the streets of Montmartre, with its charming roads, shops, restaurants, and overall ambiance.
We also explored the banks of the Seine, moving from one bookstall to another until we reached Notre-Dame, which was unfortunately closed.
We didn’t forget the obligatory walk along the Champs-Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe.
We deliberately chose not to visit the Louvre, partly due to a lack of time and also because we were concerned the children might get bored, especially with the paintings and sculptures.
We did almost everything on foot, with our little one in a stroller. We’re avid walkers, so it doesn’t bother us and also allows us to discover places we would never have seen using public transportation. And when the weather is nice, it’s even more enjoyable.
