The Château de Langeais was built by order of Louis XI starting in 1465. The interiors are furnished and evoke the daily life of 15th-century lords. On December 6, 1491, the marriage of Charles VIII and Anne of Brittany took place here. This wedding is reenacted in a room of the castle with numerous superbly costumed mannequins. An audio narration and a digital image of Stéphane Bern tell the scene and the wedding as a whole—it’s very well done! The château is very well furnished, making the visit more immersive.
In the summer, events and shows are organized in the château’s park. When we visited, we attended a bird of prey flight show included in the entrance fee, which the children loved!
Regarding motorhomes, be cautious as the château is in the city center and difficult to access. To avoid the bridges, we recommend arriving from the upper part of Langeais. The parking lot has three motorhome spaces, so you will need to be lucky!
That evening, we stumbled upon one of our most beautiful France Passion spots. A lovely farm with animals, a lake, paths for cycling, absolute tranquility, and a delightful farmer. If we could have, we would have stayed there for several days! We walked around the lake to see the flock of sheep, petted the goats, and the next day we took out our bikes to tour the property.
