Here is a wonderful discovery: this castle is certainly one of the most beautiful we have visited among all the castles of the Loire Valley.
It is a private castle, yet richly furnished and decorated with all sorts of objects and costumes, some period and some not—a true treasure trove! Every room is furnished, and some are brought to life with the addition of mannequins in costume. Inhabited by the same La Motte Saint-Pierre family since 1857, the history of the castle is narrated throughout the visit by an audio guide. The voice is that of a child from the family who asks his father about the history of the castle, making the text engaging and easy for children to understand.
A large part of the castle is dedicated to hunting and horse riding, with numerous rooms, accessories, and costumes. You can also visit the beautifully decorated Veneur’s residence!
For children, don’t hesitate to ask for your investigation booklet at the reception. It will engage your child in exploring the castle in search of clues to solve a mystery, find hidden objects, and complete a puzzle… The children loved it and paid very close attention to the visit! There is a small reward at the end of the visit as well.
Also, don’t miss the walk that takes you through the woods, very pleasant in the summer with a magnificent view of the castle. If you’re lucky, you might see horses along the way.
Practical information : you will find a dining area open only in the summer a few meters from the castle. The parking area is quite large and flat, so you will have no trouble parking your camper.
